Carlos Peguero

May 20th:  Mariners @ Padres  (Bedard vs. Latos)

So, I think the Mariners have found their new left fielder.  In his first three games with the M's this season he has managed to hit 2 homeruns and a triple and show off his excellent talent in left field.  Last night he managed to hit his first triple of the season and steal a home run from Ryan Ludwick.  This kid has been phenominal ever since joining the club back in Baltimore.  Erik Bedard pitched a gem going 8 innings allowing 3 hits, no runs, and 9 strikeouts.  He even had a base hit in his first at bat since 2008.  Bedard sure is making his statement that he wants to stay with the M's with his pitching.  He was in a groove lastnight.  The Mariner's catcher Miguel Olivo had an excellent night at the plate as well, going 2-4 with a double and a homer picking up his 13th RBI of the season.  The M's batts in the middle of the line up were hot lastnight which is good to see because it's usually the other way around.  Their 1-4 hitters (Ichiro, Figgins, Smoak, Kennedy) combined for a 2-14 night; whereas, the 5-9 hitters (Guti, Olivo, Peguero, Ryan, Bedard) combined to go 6-19 with 2 doubles, a triple, and a homerun.  The entire lineup must participate for them to become more of a contender.  They have an awesome pitching staff but they can only rely on the pitching to keep the other team at bay.  They gave Bedard a pretty good run support last night but they need to get their batts going.  And that's why I am sleepless over Seattle.

  1. Last night was a fun night. Bedard really did pitch quite the gem. I'm bummed that he didn't get to finish the game!
